When dogs were in the wild they would eat large amounts when hunting and go back and feed their pups. Dogs also are not at eye level with us. So they are also trying to greet us. And of course they want our attention! All normal behaviours to them, not so much to us humans! To correct this issue we have to “extinguish” the behaviour. It is different from learning a new behaviour. You can teach an opposing behaviour. That would be counter conditioning. For example, teaching a sit is a good one.
